Yoga/Belly Dance Boot-camp
Yoga/Belly Dance Boot-camp is a very vigorous amalgam of Yoga, Belly Dance, and Pilates... where the emphasis is on building core strength and endurance. It is great conditioning for yoga, dance or any other sports activity for that matter. No dance or yoga experience is needed however, as modifications are always given. You will learn some traditional Belly Dance moves. We will have a nice warm-up/cool down and shvanasana (relaxation) at the end. This workshop is open to everyone but keep in mind it's a workout! Prepare to sweat and have fun as modern Middle Eastern music is played in class.
Kalina Devi (Kathleen Ames) has been performing belly dance professionally since 1993 and has been teaching since 2002. Under the direction of Janine Ryle, Kalina was in the troupe Danse Maghreb with the world renowned Ariellah. Also, while living in San Francisco, Kalina took Classical Egyptian belly dance classes from the legendary Magana Baptiste, director and founder of the San Francisco Royal Academy of Oriental Dance. Kalina also took Tribal Fusion Belly Dance classes with Rachel Brice of Belly Dance Superstars and The Indigo. Kalina is the founder, director and choreographer for Troupe Tryana which performs locally. She is also the creator and performer of the belly dance style she calls Tantric Tribal Fusion where Kalina blends yoga and belly dance.
Kalina Devi is the creator of her very popular Yoga Belly Dance Boot-camp and teaches over 15 yoga classes weekly and a weekly Belly Dance and Yoga Belly Dance Boot-camp class. What ever Kalina Devi (Kathleen Ames) teaches she does with a warm heart and a sense of humor.
